Female Seeds – Grapefruit Feminized

Overview

Grapefruit by Female Seeds, is a sativa-dominant cross between the famous Cinderella 99 and a Thai sativa parent. The original was created in 1998 by an unknown breeder and her genetics were steadily improved over the years. She gained extreme popularity in the early 21st century. Female Seeds was established in 2003 and that same year, launched the feminized version of this wonderful strain.

Grapefruit is a fast flowering strain, taking between 8-9 weeks to flower and producing excellent, aromatic and super tasty buds. She does grow like a typical sativa: tall with long, rangy branches. For this reason, it is recommended you switch the lighting schedule to 12/12 early on in the vegging stage to avoid her stretching too much. If you do this, Grapefruit will respond well to training methods such as Screen of Green. This may also be useful to growers with tight spaces.

Her yielding capabilities are extremely abundant. Indoor growers can expect between 450-550g/m² and outdoor harvests can reach between 200-400g/plant. Because of this, Grapefruit is quite greedy and does require an aggressive feeding programme. Provide her with just want she needs and you’ll be rewarded plentifully.

The buds have a fruity smell of… well, grapefruit! Although the smell is not too pungent you may require some odor control. Solid ventilation, as well as humidity control in the latter stages of flowering is vital, as her buds can be susceptible to mold. The buds aren’t dense and are described as fluffy calyxes shaped like cones. A light green colour with peach pistils. Her taste is exceptional. A sweet and sour mixture of pineapple and grapefruit that is absolutely tantalising on the palate. The smoke is incredibly smooth too.

Grapefruit’s effects are just what you expect from a sativa. A cerebral, intense, head high that is super potent and long-lasting. She’s a great stimulator of the creative juices and can provide that motivation needed to get the chores done. If consumed in large amounts though, she can be quite sedative. Her potency helps to reduce stress and is popular choice for ailing depression and anxiety.
