Hindu Kush

Overview

Hindu Kush is a pure indica strain that originated in the Hindu Kush mountains, on the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan. The strain made its way to the US in the ’60s and was one of the first strains to be brought over to the Western hemisphere. It should be noted that Hindu Kush may include many original Himalayan landrace strains, although her exact genetics are difficult to unravel.

Hindu Kush is referred to as one of the purest indicas on the plant, a claim that is backed with scientific research and testing. Her growth pattern resembles this too. A fairly short and squat stature, with small and dark buds coated with tan-coloured trichomes. Hindu Kush is considered an easy strain to grow. However, given her origins, she is more suited for indoor grows under lights, unless grown in a similar mountain environment to the Himalayas.

A super potent variety, Hindu Kush clocks in at around 20% THC. Classed as one of the original strains that helped produce hand-rolled finger hash such as charas and cream. The aroma vouches for her strength, filling grow rooms with a pleasant earthy, pine and floral bouquet. A sweet fragrance is also emitted in small hints during her early stages, which develops during her maturation. The taste resembles sandalwood, pine and a lemony citrus. Some phenotypes can also be described as creamy, offering an incredibly smooth smoke with flavours of spice and incense.

One of Hindu Kush’s predominant effects is her strong relaxation properties, that will have your limbs feeling heavy and induce a blissful couchlock. Her strong potency encourages a long-lasting body stone that can be quite trippy and overwhelming. Nonetheless, she’s reported to be a good assister of pain relief, stress and lack of appetite. Also highly recommended in the evening times as she can make you sleepy and therefore, helps with insomnia.
