Overview
Big Bud originated in the USA before moving to Holland in the ’80s to avoid a heightening war on drugs. Sensi Seeds finished off the work that was started and continued to refine it until we got their own version that we know today. They’ve added Skunk #1 and Northern Lights to the mix, creating an indica-dominant hybrid that’s robust and extremely potent.
Big Bud is a strain that has been developed principally with the commercial grower in mind. Yields can be startlingly large, between 500-600g/m² indoors and 800-1200g/plant outdoors. She’s adaptable to a range of training techniques, such as Screen of Green and Sea of Green. Utilising these set-ups in your grow room can push the harvests up even further. If growing Big Bud outdoors, she thrives the most in warmer Mediterranean climates with longer summers.
Whichever training methods you use, you will end up with a plant that truly lives up to its name. Big Bud forms huge colas and it seems that every part of the plant is overflowing with obscenely massive buds. These buds are of good density and sticky with THC resin. The plant has a narrow structure with fewer leaves than other Big Bud varieties available. This makes Sensi Seeds’ rendition more suitable for tighter growing spaces and small balconies. Regardless, her heavy branches will need supporting.
Aromas are rich and hashy, like a true Himalayan indica, and smoking can be a little harsh. Don’t let this put you off though, as in the smoking room Big Bud is no slouch. The deep indica body bake is immediate and long-lasting. She offers a powerful, sedative and soothing high, that can also be giggly and euphoric thanks to her slight sativa genetics. If you’re a commercial grower, or on a budget and want more bud for your buck, then Big Bud may be the choice for you.
