ACE – Oldtimers Haze Seeds

Overview

Oldtimers Haze, brought to us here by the Spanish cannabis collective ACE Seeds, is an authentic old school sativa right out of the 70s.

The genetic origins of this strain are confused, although it is generally thought to consist of a blend of sativas that include Mexican, Purple Highland Columbian, Kerala (Southern Indian) and Thai.

The story goes that the strain was developed in California during the hippy scene of the 60s and 70s. The seeds that ACE have used in their breeding program have been preserved by Oldtimer, a British breeder, and then bred out by ACE using a variety of parent plants. ACE have used Oldtimer genetics in breeding programs with great success by breeding out a particularly good phenotype in their Green Haze range (Green Haze X Malawi, Green Haze X Thai)

Oldtimers Haze is a true Haze sativa with an extraordinarily long flowering period. You can count on waiting from 16 to 24 weeks for flowers to ripen. Something that makes this a plant that will only be of interest to specialist growers.

Outdoor growers will need to be in a tropical or sub tropical climate. Harvest time will occur in January in the Northern hemisphere.

With this in mind we recognise that most growers will need to grow Oldtimers Haze indoors under lights. You will need good high output grow lights and lots of space.

Oldtimers Haze is a tall and leggy plant with long spear shaped buds forming at sites all across the plant. Unless you have plenty of space you will need to train this plant. SCROGS work well. Or some LST, tying down the many lateral branches. You should also consider flipping your lights to 12/12 as soon as the seedlings become established. Long veg periods can make this plant so big as to be almost unmanageable.

Oldtimers Haze may present a variety of phenotypes to you, varying between what ACE categorise as Green Haze, which has an aroma of tropical fruit, and Purple Haze which has a darker bouquet like tart berries and liquor. All phenos have that woody Haze smell that Haze lovers love.
